school is in the air

It's that time of year again. The time where the lazy days of carefree drift off into our dreams and the bright busy days of school is on our to do lists. Where the smell of paper, binders, crayons, and new clothes are hanging like the smells of the beach that we just left, maybe a few weeks ago.
I sat down last night to fill in this month's planner with all of the activities that would take over the lazy days that I have become accustomed too. Days that will welcome us that are full of homework, dance class, youth group, and the occasional, "Mom, I don't want to go to school today!" I myself must admit that, while I have missed the sounds of the voices of the sweet kiddos that I will call mine for a year, I will miss the days of swimming lazily in the pool, our impromptu get-togethers, and the warm days of just sleeping in.
As we slowly hold onto these last days of summer, I open my eyes and heart to the wonderful, exciting adventure that is awaiting us, to God's amazing grace, and my summer girl opens her eyes in anticipation to 3rd grade

where I've been

It seems like it has been forever since I have wrote here...when in fact its been over a year now since my last post. I took time away to find out what I wanted to write about. It was starting to become more of a chore than a passion, and if that was the only reason for writing, I didn't want to be a part of it.

The time I took away has became such a retreat for my soul. I have grown in my relationship with God. I have started on a new path with my dreams, passions, and career. I have entered into a new ministry. I have opened my heart and eyes to all the things that I am wanting to discover. I have found a passion for writing that I never knew existed. I have opened my arms up to me. Finding and discovering all of who I am and who God is creating, molding, and changing me to be. I am learning to love this walk on the journey that God has chosen for me. Learning to embrace all that this season has in store.

100 days of school

Rae's school is celebrating 100 Days of School today.
Her teacher sent home a project to collect 100 of any item and post on the sheet she sent out. Rae of course chose marshmallows...( I wouldn't advise to use those. Very sticky!!)
The bonnet and apron she's wearing my mom made for her. Her teacher said the students could come dressed up. She said she looked like the girls on Little House on the Prairie. I thought she was adorable. Though she did ask.."Mom, where's my wrinkles"... They will come soon enough my dear. Soon enough.

excitable expectation

I love how God's Word comes together, don't you??  How it all makes sense. How everything He created and established all relates back to Him.
This morning was the first day of our Hello Mornings challenge. I could barely sleep with all of the butterflies in my stomach. I woke up early and settled in on what God's Word would bring. I never guessed it would be just what I needed.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
In reading our study book Abounding Hope, we were taught that the Hebrew word for "hope" is : defined as "anticipate, usually with pleasure, expectation, or confidence."
God brought back to my remembrance a message that a preacher friend of mine did. He explained hope as an "excitable expectation".
I learned through our group {HMGlories}, that abound means to have large or excessive amounts of.  And that the Spanish word for hope was..."to wait".
I was just at an awe. This was just what I have needed. I have been praying to the Lord over something for 4 years now, and today He kept telling me to Hope. Don't give up. That to hope in Him is to trust and have faith.
I have such "excitable expectations" in what God is going to show me in my walk with Him.
Loving that all of what God fills us with is the pieces of Him. His character. His fruits.

storybook Mondays

As we come to the end of January this week, I thought this week's "library book" should embrace what January brings.
There are three things Rae loves about winter...snow and snowmen and hot chocolate. She has been sad that we haven't had any snow...(well I should rephrase that. Not enough snow so she could go play in. Me on the other hand, kinda relieved we haven't...not a good snow driver)
I hope you join in with us this week with your book on storybook Mondays!

Rae's Reviews

Welcome to this week's Rae's Reviews.
This week our storybook Monday was handpicked by
 Miss Rae.
This week we read: Ponyella
By: Laura Numeroff and Nate Evans
If you have a daughter that loves fairy tales, then this is a must read!! This is such a cute book and in it teaches a lesson to be true of yourself and good to others. The story is about a pretty pony named Ponyella that loves to run and jump. Her farm gets sold to a mean man with mean horses of his own. They make fun of Ponyella and have her do all the chores...(sounds just like a certain fairy tale doesn't it). She hears of a contest but isn't allowed to go. Does Ponyella become beautiful again? Does she win? I can't tell you :)
Rae's Review: "I loved Ponyella. She was beautiful". "I liked how she didn't give up". "The ending was my favorite part"!! "I want a pony". "I love horses"!!
She gave it 2 thumbs up!! And there you have it!
Do you have your storybook Mondays and review of your book? I would love to hear them. Feel free to leave me a comment about your story and your own "Rae's Reviews".
Have a blessed, safe, and warm weekend!!
